Drink Plenty of Water
This is one tip that you’re probably sick of hearing again and again, but it’s only because it’s so important.
If there is one thing that can easily and naturally help you to detox your body, it’s definitely water. We often think that we’re drinking enough when we really need to increase our intake dramatically.
The Oil pulling method
Oil pulling is an age-old Indian medical remedy. By using natural substances it cleans and detoxifies teeth and gums. The idea is that oil is swished in the mouth for a short time each day and this action helps reduce bacteria, strengthen your gums, improve your skin, prevent bad breath and it is also whitening your teeth naturally.
The purpose behind the oil pulling is to take the toxins, bacteria, germs, and other bad stuff from the mouth and into the oil.
It is very simple. You swish two teaspoons of organic coconut oil in the mouth for 20 minutes and then spit it out and rinse well. Oil pulling is best done in the morning, before eating or drinking anything.
I swish while I put on my makeup in the morning and then have my breakfast after.
How to Do It
- First thing in the morning before eating or drinking anything, including water, put 2 teaspoons of organic coconut oil into the mouth.
- Swish for twenty minutes. This is how long it takes to break through plaque and bacteria. If you do it longer there is a chance of taking the toxins and bacteria back into the body.
- Swish the oil around in your mouth – do not swallow.
- Spit out all of the oil in the trash can when you are done and rinse your mouth with warm water. Warm water cleans the mouth better.
- Scrape the tongue.
- Brush the teeth well.
Note: Some people may feel a bit ill during or after oil pulling – this is generally a good sign that your body is removing toxins.
Dandelions – one of our healthiest greens
Dandelion has been used for medicinal purposes for centuries. They have a peppery flavor, almost like ruccola and they are very healthy. They are one of the most nutritionally dense greens you can eat and they have many medicinal qualities. They detoxifies the blood and they are very good for the liver. They have four times as much calcium, 1.5 times as much vitamin A and 7.5 times as much vitamin K as broccoli.
According to the USDA, dandelions rank in the top 4 green vegetables in overall nutritional value.
How to use it.
The best time to gather is long before the last frost of spring before they flower. They should be harvested from new plants while still small and tender, before the first flower emerges. Larger greens tend to be tougher and more bitter, and better suited for cooking.
Dandelions are best picked where the grass grows tall. Yard dandelions, which have been cut often, do not have as good a flavor.
The dandelion greens taste is similar to the taste of radicchio, but slightly bitter. Try taking a handful of small leaves, rinse them, cut them in tiny pieces and mix them with your salad. That way you will add lots of nutrients to your salad. Try it with goat cheese, nuts and honey to complement the taste.
You can eat both the leaves and the flowers of the dandelion. It is also very nice to decorate a salad with the flowers.
Other ways to cleanse your body…
Get a good and intense massage
If you want to get rid of toxins in your body an intense massage can work really good. You want to get deep into the muscle tissue to make this work for you. This helps you to naturally detox the body and get rid of the things that may have been making you sick.
Drink a lot of water afterwards to flush out the system and be sure that the toxins leave the body immediately.
Sweat it out
Perspiration and sweating are one of the best ways to detox and get rid of most heavy metals and toxins in your body. As you sweat the toxins can come out and therefore the cleansing is taking place.
Dry brush your skin
Dry brushing helps move lymph fluid into the lymph nodes so this waste can then be eliminated. Dry brushing boosts circulation and deliver oxygenated blood to the skin and other organs.
Try a green smoothie instead of solid foods.
It can be exceptional for getting rid of the substances that your body doesn’t need.
This recipe is my favorite green smoothie. You can use avocado and frozen mango and add almost any greens.
If you would like to bring the smoothie with you, just pour it in to a thermos and it will keep all day.
